Lars Hellsten
Lars Hellsten is a renowned Swedish designer and sculptor, known for his timeless glass creations for Orrefors.
Born in 1933, Hellsten studied sculpture at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack) in Stockholm. His early career began at Skruf Glassworks before joining Orrefors in 1972, where he remained for over 25 years, shaping a legacy of innovative glass design.
His artistic work is featured in esteemed collections across Europe, including Nationalmuseum and Nordiska Museet in Stockholm, the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Among his most iconic designs is the Discus collection for Orrefors – a symbol of his minimalist yet expressive approach to form and function in glass art.
